Nepean Knightwatch

Welcome to Knightwatch, Nepean High School’s online newspaper! With everyone scattered across cohorts and online or in-school learning, Knightwatch is a great way for students to connect.

We’re looking for content from ALL students, no matter your grade or skill-level.

What kind of content are we looking for? We’re collecting original creations like:

  • Opinion writing

  • Poetry

  • Short stories, or excerpts from longer works of fiction

  • Photography

  • Visual art

  • Media reviews and recommendations

  • Social issues

  • Eats

  • And anything else you can think of

There is no minimum length for written posts. Send us a couple sentences if you want to!

We’re going to have a couple prompts, both serious and fun, every month to get you creating, so stay tuned!

Guess What?!

The June Issue is up right now!!

You will find new June content in these sections:

Prompt Responses, Creative Writing, Social Issues, Books, Student Life, and Art!

A big thank you to everyone that allowed us to share their work and creativity this year!

Meet the Editors!

ANNA

Hello! My name is Anna C-J, my pronouns are she/they and I'm in grade 12! I am passionate about social justice, politics, music, performance arts, writing, photography and just about everything that has to do with using imagination!  I am thrilled to be a member of this year’s excellent Knightwatch co-editor team, and to work alongside NHS students, with a platform to share your voices and creations. No matter what your passions or talents may be, I want Knightwatch to be a space for you to share them and I look forward to seeing what everyone will create! We all believe in what YOU have to offer!

DINA

Knightwatch Meet the Editors- Dina.jpg

Hi there! My name is Dina Efrem. My pronouns are she/her.  I am both grateful and proud to be a Knightwatch co-editor working alongside Miriam and Anna. I am a first-generation Eritrean-Canadian and a visible minority. Through my struggles as a visible minority in a racially undiverse world and school, I have used writing as my creative outlet, my method of mental preservation. Writing has allowed me to express my thoughts, pains, and struggles in their purest form. I want Knightwatch to serve as a podium for students of all races, genders, sexualities, and marginalized groups. I want it to serve as a microphone for the voices that have been muted. A safe place, where all voices are given an equal platform to be heard and recognized. My work towards racial equality and inclusivity within Nepean is ongoing and everlasting. “Diversity is the magic. It is the first manifestation, the first beginning of the differentiation of a thing and of simple identity. The greater the diversity, the greater the perfection.”– Thomas Berry

MIRIAM

Kightwatch Meet the Editors- Miriam's Ph

Hey, Nepean!

My name is Miriam, I'm in grade 12, and my pronouns are she/her. I love seeing the work of young creators like us, which is why I'm super excited to be a Knightwatch editor this year! Only a week into accepting submissions, and I'm already obsessed with refreshing the email page to see if there's anything new from you guys. I love sweaters, musicals, and car rides, and I'm a creative writer myself when I'm not busy with school work or being distracted by my phone. I can't wait to hear from you all!
